Official Launch of the Digital Platform of the Infrastructure Observatory
March 2026
Within the framework of the II Meeting of High Authorities of the Infrastructure and Transport Network of the Brasília Consensus, held in Montevideo on March 17 and 18, 2026, a historic milestone was reached in the evolution of the South American Infrastructure Observatory: the launch of its digital web platform.
The Observatory’s website is structured around two major pillars:
- The Project Database: at the launch stage, it comprises 56 projects that were selected collaboratively by the 12 countries that make up the Observatory. These projects share a common focus on transport and logistics initiatives that promote physical connectivity and sustainable economic and social development in South America.
- The Geoportal: this is a key tool for consulting and visualizing high-quality, up-to-date information on infrastructure, transport, and logistics in the region. The Geoportal provides an initial collection of thematic layers that includes the Road Network, Navigable Waterways, and the Railway Network and Stations.
The digital platform also includes a section specifically dedicated to the Background, Objectives, and Members of the Observatory.
In addition, it features a section where users can consult and access Documents related to the Projects, as well as a series of Links of Interest, all of which can be accessed through filters that allow segmentation by year or country.
Finally, the site also includes a News section, intended to serve as a repository of information related to the emergence and evolution of the South American Infrastructure Observatory.
