Geoportal

Welcome to the Geoportal of the Infrastructure Observatory of the Brasília Consensus, where users can access various geospatial data layers in vector format related to South America’s transportation infrastructure.

Designed to support territorial analysis and planning in the region, these layers are part of the Geographic Information System of the South American Infrastructure and Transport Network.

Geospatial information can be explored through the map viewer, accessed via geoservices, or freely downloaded from the Downloads section. The metadata catalog and technical documentation of the project are also available for consultation.

This section details the geospatial information services published by the Infrastructure Observatory, following Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards, and available for public use.

The Web Map Service (WMS) is a standard defined by the OGC for publishing geospatial information online. This data may originate from vector files, satellite imagery, digital maps, etc., and can be viewed and queried remotely. The service delivers information in image formats (PNG, JPEG, GIF), which can be displayed in desktop GIS systems without downloading the original data.

The Web Feature Service (WFS) allows access to information about geographic features (e.g., a highway, a navigable river, a railway station). Unlike the Web Map Service, this service enables users to access and download geospatial data along with all associated attributes.

This section provides access to the technical documentation of the Geographic Information System (GIS) project of the South American Infrastructure and Transport Network. The project was developed in accordance with international standards ISO/TC 211 19110, 19126, and ISO 19115.

The Feature Catalog complies with ISO TC 211 – 19110, which aims to: a) specify the methodology and structure used to organize geographic feature types, their definitions, and characteristics (attributes, relationships, and operations); b) standardize feature catalogs so they are integrable, interoperable, and easily understood.

The Data Dictionary follows ISO TC 211 – 19126 and is designed to define the specifications of geographic features represented by the GIS information layers.

AVAILABLE DOCUMENTATION

This section allows users to download geospatial information layers in vector format, developed based on the Feature Catalog. The data can be freely downloaded and used, provided the source is cited. Downloads are available in Shapefile and KML formats.
